Trans Day of Rememberance - Power and Joy

Please join us for our Trans Day of Rememberance event, "Power and Joy," which will begin in Chancellor Green at 7pm. There we will feature a panel with renowed activists Chrystos, a two-spirit self-educated writer and activist, Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi, an African, Cuban, Indigenous, American trans performance artist, author, and teacher, and K. Kenneth Davis, the CEO of The TransCapitalist, a financial literacy organization for the LGBTQIA Communities. Following the panel, there will be a Rest in Power Vigil to celebrate the lives of those lost to violence, with a procession to a reception in the LGBT Center in Frist Campus Center.

This Trans Day of Rememberance event has a theme of retelling and of recognition. We use this day to celebrate those who have lost their lives to violence, as well as to celebrate activists and trans* people who continue to bring joy and light into our communities.

Please note that this event is occurring on Wednesday, November 15th (not the national day of Trans Remembrance, November 20th).
