Workshop: Understanding Bisexuality with Bisexual Educator/Activist Robyn Ochs

  • Rainbow Lounge (Frist 247) (map)

Bisexual people face various health-related disparities, including higher rates of suicidality and intimate partner violence than even their lesbian and gay counterparts. In this program, we will look at the concept of minority stress as it relates to LGBTQ+ people and highlight disparities faced by bisexual people. We will challenge negative messages and stigma that surround the bisexual community, explore what it means to identify as bisexual, and discuss strategies for supporting bisexual students. Join us for this engaging and thought-provoking session!

Robyn Ochs is an educator, speaker, grassroots activist, and editor of the Bi Women Quarterly, and two anthologies: the 42-country collection Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World and RECOGNIZE: The Voices of Bisexual Men. Her writings have been published in numerous bi, women's studies, multicultural, and LGBTQ+ anthologies. All students, faculty and staff are welcome.
